Harare Home

Shungu Dzevana Children’s Village in Harare has 68 children in residence with ages ranging from 0-18+. We have 4 housing units, each unit comprised of 5 bedrooms i.e. 4 bedrooms for the children and one for the mother, dining, lounge, fitted kitchen, 3 toilets, 3 showers, 3 junior toilets, study room and laundry.

Children live as a family under the care a guidance of a foster mother. This arrangement helps the children a sense of being family, learning family values and responsibilities. Each child is assigned responsibility of household chores according to age.

Some of our children at the institution have foster parents whom they visit during weekends and school holidays. This is to help them maintain contact with family life and the outside world.

Our children attend the following schools, Cranborne Boys High, St Pauls Musami High, Morgan High, Hatfield Girls High, Moffat Primary and Hatfield Junior School.

We also have children who are studying at Catholic University in Zimbabwe, University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University, Bindura University of Science Education, Chinhoyi University, Harare Polytechnic, Msasa Technical College and Mupfure Self Help College.
